About Us
Environmental Systems Service, Ltd. (ESS) offers quality services in the fields of environmental consulting and testing, water and wastewater treatment, and food and dairy analysis. ESS is a privately held corporation and provides the benefit of unbiased, independent consulting and analysis from a highly trained technical staff. As a result, customers receive accurate and timely information provided confidentially at a reasonable cost.
ESS was organized in 1973 in Culpeper, VA to provide the water and wastewater industry with operations services. Subsequently, an in-house laboratory was established to support the operating functions. Recognizing the changing regulatory requirements, ESS strives to grow and support industries as needed. Environmental services offered include:

~ environmental testing
~ field sampling
~ contract operations and maintenance
~ clean metals sampling
~ equipment calibration, repair and maintenance
~ regulatory permitting
~ plant audits
~ water and wastewater treatment
~ water and wastewater testing
From environmental testing, the laboratory services extended into the food and dairy fields. In 1978, another laboratory was added in Bedford, VA to handle the food analysis including:
~ microbiological analysis
~ pathogen screening and confirmation
~ dairy component testing
~ Aflatoxin screening
~ HACCP consulting
~ water testing
